My Grey Knights took to the field again last Wednesday, clashing against not only the alien Eldar but also the Ordo Hereticus!
The Grey Knights made a line for the Eldar, fighting their way to the objective through the alien invaders. A couple of them fell in the process, cut down by the technological weaponary of the Eldar, but they were able to consolidate on the central objective in force. It was then that the true trickery and treachery was revealed, as the Sisters of Battle of the Ordo Malleus turned their weapons on humanity’s stalwart defenders. Their so-called ‘holy’ (Chaos warpflame-infused) flamers cut through the holy armour of the Grey Knights, and led by their Canoness (Daemonic Demagogue) the Sisters of Battle (Sisters of Slaanesh) cut through the Grey Knights, eliminating them to a man. The final warrior attempted to make a stand, but the deceptive Eldar had other plans. Despite duelling and defeating a Howling Banshee Exarch in hand-to-hand combat, the final Grey Knight was cut down by the cowardly Eldar’s ranged weaponry.
In all seriousness, it was a good fun game with major casualties on all sides and a very close ending that resulted in a solid victory for the Sisters of Battle. My mistake came when I tried to make a run at the Sisters, forgetting that one of their faith powers lets their weapons act as AP1 for the turn – a fatal error for my power-armoured force!
I’ve been a bit busy this week and have managed less painting than I hoped, but I’ve still nearly finished some more Grey Knights. Fingers crossed I can get them fully painted in time for the final kill-team game this Wednesday – watch this space!
